We have developed thio-cyclopentene ligands for Pd(II) catalysis, which could substitute norbornene or its derivatives to promote Catellani-type reactions. These ligands enabled generic palladium/olefin cooperative catalysis for the first time, and the simplicity of the thio-cyclopentene ligands allowed for easy structural modification to acieve reactivity tuning of the ligand. In this EROS contribution, we summarized two representative members of these ligands, dithiane-cyclopentene ligand (1) and acetylcysteine-cyclopentene ligand (2).
