Congratulations to Jian-Qing on being selected for 74th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting.

The Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings – established in 1951 – provide a globally acclaimed forum connecting Nobel Laureates with emerging scientists worldwide. These gatherings foster cross-generational inspiration while building enduring networks among young researchers.
Focused on chemistry every third year, the meetings maintain exceptionally competitive selection standards: Only 600-650 early-career scientists (primarily PhD candidates and postdocs) secure invitations through rigorous nominations by over 200 partner institutions globally.
Jian-Qing Qi has joined this distinguished cohort, emerging as one of only 30 selected Chinese PhD students for this year’s chemistry-focused event.

Prior to the meeting, Jian-Qing participated in a German university tour with the Chinese delegation, visiting the University of Bonn, University of Giessen, University of Bayreuth, and Technical University of Munich. This experience proved particularly insightful to him, revealing significant differences in scientific infrastructure – including in-house machining centers and optimized lab layouts – and laboratory management approaches, such as technical staff employment models and workflow efficiency.

During the Lindau Meeting, Jian-Qing engaged extensively with Nobel Laureates and international peers. A highlight was Professor Ben Feringa’s Open Exchange session, where Jian-Qing participated in an on-stage “arm-wrestling” demonstration that vividly illustrated the mechanical properties of molecular machines.

This prestigious opportunity has provided Jian-Qing with unparalleled scientific perspectives and global connections. We anticipate these experiences will significantly enrich his doctoral research and future academic contributions, while strengthening our group’s international collaborative networks. We commend his exceptional achievement in representing our institution on this globally recognized platform.
