Congratulations to Chen-Hui Yuan and Xiao-Xia Wang on the acceptance of their work on chiral palladacycle chemistry by Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. (2024, 63, e202405062)!
In this work, we isolated and characterized the chiral palladacycle intermediates in the Pd-catalyzed asymmetric C(sp3)-H activation reactions of carboxylic acids. These intermediates serve as a direct evidence for the stereoselective C-H palladation as the enantioselectivity-determining step of the transformation, which elucidated the role of ligands in different stages of the reaction. The study sheds light on the stereochemical processes and ligand effects in this transformation.
