Xinyu’s interesting mechanistic study published in Organometallics.

Congratulations to Xinyu Xu for the publication of his mechanistic study on the stereochemistry of palladacycle alkylation in Organometallics (2023, 42, 606)!

This work was entirely done by Xinyu himself, and it was also the main part of his undergraduate thesis. Although the stereochemistry of the reaction between palladacycles and secondary alkyl halides has been extensively studied, the same process with primary alkyl halides has not been touched. We used a stereochemically well-defined vincinal dideuterated primary alkyl iodide as a probe to elucidate the stereochemical process of the palladacycle alkylation reaction by analyzing the relative configuration of the alkylation product by 1H{2H} NMR spectroscopy. This study required very careful synthetic work and result analysis, which Xinyu did very well. After finishing his undergraduate studies, Xinyu continued to do research in organometallic chemistry under the guidance of Prof. Ming-Tian Zhang in our CBMS. Hope that he has a brilliant future in his PhD studies.
